GOAT Training Classes

Hangboard 101

No hangboarding experience required.

If you have wanted to learn how to use hangboards & blocks to strengthen & protect your fingers, you’ve found the right class!

Hangboarding 101 covers the hangboards we have in our fitness area – including the Beastmaker 1000 which is designed for beginner hangboard users. Other tools potentially covered in the class are the Tension Block & other “no-hang” blocks.

The class covers hangboarding protocols best for those learning the basics and general conditioning, as well as protocols specific to your goals.

We recommend taking the class after completing a minimum of 6 months of consistent climbing to make the most of the class and reduce risk of injury.

Tension Board 101

No experience using the Tension Board required.

Please download the Tension app from the Apple or Android app store prior to class.

Are you looking to expand your bouldering skills to a different kind of movement than GOAT’s boulder offering? The Tension Board is a great way to learn explosive & precise movement on adjustable angle climbing terrain.

It can be intimidating to approach the Tension Board without knowing how to use it. Let us show you around the app, how to read climbs on the board, adjust the board angle, how to create your own climbs, setting an automatic timer, and board etiquette.

Climbing shoes & chalk are provided in class, though owning climbing shoes is strongly recommended for this class.
