The GOAT Climbing Team Youth Program
Climbing is a community sport which resonates with us at GOAT Climbing Gym. Our management team, our owners and their families have grown up within the community of climbing – as climbers inside and outside, as coaches, parents and competitors. And it is from this community that the Goat Climbing Gym youth program was born and intends to flourish.
The GOAT Climbing team is composed of two tracks; our recreational tribe team and our competitive team. Our goal for the Goat Climbing Team is to create a community tribe of confident young adults who will go on to climb for life together, mentor younger members of the team and enjoy representing the gym at local, Regional, Divisional and National Championships!
All members of the Goat Youth program are eligible for a team discount on all items in the GOAT retail area.

Coaches
Position Title: GOAT Climbing Team Head Coach
Why do you like Climbing?! The great friends I’ve made and beautiful places I’ve discovered because of climbing
Years climbing: 2
Climbing style in 3 words: Big, punchy, punter
Favorite US crag: Red River Gorge KY
What inspires you? Hard climbing and undiscovered lines
Position Title: Coach of the Goat Tribe Team As a kid I grew up a competitive gymnast and began competitive cheerleading in high school. I found acrobatics during college and was introduced to and fell in love with rock climbing just after college. Prior to working in the climbing industry full time I focused on my acrobatic practice. My partner and I studied and trained with professional circus artists and coaches in Spain, Montreal, Quebec and San Diego. Due to injury we had to slow down our practice which led me to coaching rock climbing full time. Although, I still have dreams of performing in Cirque Du Soleil!
Years climbing: 7
Years coaching: 5
Coaching style in 3 words: Compact, Eccentric, Mindful
Favorite US crag: Joshua Tree
Favorite climb and why!? Funky Dung! It’s a 5.8 Trad route located in Hemingway Buttress in Joshua Tree. In my opinion this is an underrated hidden gem of a warm up climb. This route hits everything I need to go into a day of climbing with my head on straight. At first glance it looks like a straight shot but once I hopped on I realized I had different terrain options; slab and crac and overhangs oh my! A couple laps on this thing and I am in the zone!
Pet’s name: No current pets but Logan was my family Goldendoodle growing up. When he passed away a few years ago I got a tattoo of his paw on my arm to always have him with me!
How do you take your coffee? Black or a dirty (with espresso) chai latte with oat milk
If you need to find me at Goat i’ll be: coaching our athletes or somewhere doing handstands.
What inspires you?
Watching those I care about succeed inspires me everyday. Success comes in all shapes and sizes and can be in the form of facing fears, achieving goals, overcoming obstacles or just completing that 1000 piece puzzle you’ve been working on all quarantine.
Why do you like Climbing?! Climbing is everything to me! I love the community it creates, the language it develops and the unique movement patterns that are built by climbers as they solve a problem or crux in a climb.
Years climbing: More than I care to admit! 20+
Climbing style in 3 words: Heels, Hips and Shoulders
Favorite US crag: Ten Sleep canyon WY
What inspires you? Setting fun, fair and aesthetically pleasing climbs for our community, youth programs and at a national level, that and seeing the feedback on people’s faces when they come down off a climb!
